Mildred I. Hunter

Mildred I. Hunter, 101, of rural Arma, (Englevale) died at 9:07 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Mrs. Hunter was born December 3, 1922, in Englevale, Kansas the daughter of Ira J. and Leona Cleffman Brown.

Mildred was a homemaker who was raised in Englevale and graduated from Arma High School. She liked art and liked to paint. She taught in rural grade school, worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas, and worked for SEK-CAP in Girard for many years. Mildred also worked as the librarian at the Arma City Library for several years.

She married Charles G. Hunter in 1945. Mr. Hunter preceded her in death in 1966.

She attended the Arma United Methodist Church and was one of the founders of the SEK Gas Engine Club.

Survivors include two sons, John W. Hunter of Englevale and Charles Lee Hunter of Parsons, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Otis Brown, and a sister, Florence Brown.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Bedene Funeral Homa in Arma, Kansas with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Englevale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bedene Chapel prior to the funeral services.
