Tommie Kenneth Whetzell Jr., 66, of Liberal, Missouri, died peacefully after a long ordeal with cancer surrounded by his family in Joplin, Missouri on April 21, 2024.
He was born in Kansas City, MO in 1958 to Tommie Kenneth Whetzell Senior and Iona Whetzell.
Growing up, he loved to play records and boss around his little brothers. Tommie attended Van Horn High School in Independence, Missouri graduating in 1976, he went on to join the Navy and served for 14 years. During that time he met his first wife, Helen, and his daughter Kieta was born in 1980. Tommie went on to become a jack of all trades. He married his current wife, Connie in 2013. He is widely known and respected in his church as a handyman and always willing to help.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Kenneth Whetzell Sr. and Juanita Yvonne Whetzell, and his brothers, Steve and Eric Whetzell.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Whetzell, his sister, Natalie Schmitz, his brother, Troy Whetzell, his daughter, Kieta Cloughly, and granddaughters, Anaya Valdivia, Aislynn Hobbs, Keirah Cloughly and Verity Cloughly.
Memorial service is set for Saturday, April 27, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at LifeChangers Church International 706 N. Broadway St., Pittsburg, KS 66762, to be immediately followed by a remembrance lunch.
