Jean Blessant Macary, 96, of Arma, Kansas, passed away peacefully at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Oakview Estates Residential Care in Frontenac, Kansas.
Mrs. Macary was born March 31, 1927 at Arma, Kansas, the daughter of John and Catterina Trione Blessant. Jean was a devoted homemaker, amazing Mother, Grandmother, and loyal friend who was a lifelong resident of Arma. She was raised in Arma and graduated from Crawford County High School in the Class of 1944. She married John Macary on November 3, 1945 in Girard, Kansas. Mr. Macary preceded her in death December 17, 2000. She was a member of Lon Helm Post #182 American Legion Auxiliary in Arma. Survivors include a son, John L. (Kristine) Macary of Frontenac, Kansas, four grandchildren, Kirbie (Seth) Nutt, Brett (Kennedy) Macary, Ali (Jed) Weber, and Spencer (Ashley) Orscheln, and great grandchildren, Korbyn, Kruz, Karter, Gigi, Ivy, George, Greta, Dain, Hayden, Max, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Debra Kay Macary, a daughter-in-law, Virginia Ann Macary, five brothers, Lewis, Dom, Ernest "Buck", John, and Fred Blessant, two sisters, Mary Favero and Jessie "Jay" Black, and two dogs, Fluffy and Katie.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas, with Father Josh Evans officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Pittsburg, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, at the Bedene Chapel prior to the funeral services. The family suggests memorials to the Oakview Estates Residential Care or the SEK Animal Advocates. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
