Francis Joseph Meiers Jr., 75, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.
Francis was born on October 17, 1948, to Francis Joseph Meiers Sr., and Angeline Irene (Montee) Meiers in Pittsburg, KS. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1967.
He was united in marriage to Amedia Eugenia Beckley on February 27, 1976. in Frontenac, KS. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2006.
Mr. Meiers worked as a welder for TEI and for Kansas City Southern Railroad.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Vilmer of Pittsburg, KS; a brother Edward Meiers of Frontenac, KS; two sisters, Angela M. Weir (Albert) of Mulberry, KS, and Ethella Jean Mitchell of Jay, OK; two grandsons, Joseph Vilmer and James Vilmer; nephews, Randy L. Rakestraw Jr, Nicholas Joseph McIntier; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son-in-law, Bill Vilmer, a grandson, William Dee Meiers-Vilmer, and a niece, Chasity Ann Scholes.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Don Talent officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home.
