Regional film festival seeking submissions

Posted

JOPLIN, Mo. — A new film festival in the region is looking for filmmakers and videographers in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Filmmakers are being asked to submit their short films or feature films for what’s being called The Great Wonders Uplift Film Fest.

Organizers of the festival are hoping to encourage the art of filmmaking in the region.

This festival will be held Jan. 11-13, 2024, at the Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex in Joplin and Route 66 Theater in Webb City, Missouri.

Great Wonders Productions is giving filmmakers the call for entries now so that those wanting to submit a short film still have time to get their project produced, but any film project from 2022 and 2023 will be eligible.

Filmmakers of all levels of experience from these four States are encouraged to submit and attend. Film projects are being accepted from both professional and semi-professional filmmakers, as well as high school and college students.

Awards will be given in various categories, including Most Inspirational Film, Best College Production, Best High School Production, Best Documentary, Best in Festival and more.

The deadline to enter is Nov. 10, with a late deadline of Dec. 1 for an additional charge. Entrants will be notified on Dec. 15.

The three-day festival in January will include both film screenings and workshops by professional film producers.
