Ray F. Trammell, 89, of Pittsburg, Kansas died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mr. Trammell was born June 10, 1934, in Natchitoches, Louisiana the son of Henry Lee and Nancy Ada Berden Trammell.
Ray retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service as T. Sergeant and later worked for the Pittsburg State University in the computer center and retired after 18 years.
He was raised in Louisiana and Texas and graduated from Burkeville High School in 1952. He later attended Pittsburg State University for 2 years. He married Patricia L. Curnutt on September 4, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma. Mrs. Trammell preceded him in death on November 22, 1999.
He was a member of the Pittsburg American Legion Post 64.
Survivors include a daughter, Tracy (Richard) Titmus of Pittsburg; two sons, Tim (Annetta) Trammell of Farlington and Todd (Kelly Jo) Trammell of Pittsburg; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; six sisters, Henryetta DuBose, Arbizine Langley, Mamie Stanton, Willa Jordan, Lois Bayer, and Mildred Nash; and three brothers, William, James, and John Trammell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas with Pastor Roy Widmar officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday following the service at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas. Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard will conduct full military graveside services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel.
