When Larry Rainwater was born, Locomotive 2816 was already more than 60 years old and had been retired from regular service for more than 30 years. On Tuesday, the 32-year-old engineer, along with conductor James Sherman, replaced another crew on the steam engine to take it from Pittsburg to its next stop in Heavener, Okla.
