Harold Ronald Brown

Ron Brown died peacefully at home on Sept. 8, 2024, at the age of 94. He was born to Harold and Arnice Brown, now deceased, and he had one sister, Annette Brown Mooney, also deceased. He attended Pittsburg schools graduating from PHS in 1948.

He was an active band member and participated in sports. Ron received a BS degree in Education with a major in automotive technology from Kansas Teacher’s College (now Pittsburg State) in 1952. He married Demarice Coots Brown in 1953, and they enjoyed a long life together. He is also survived by two sons Jeffrey Brown (Hawaii) and Dennis Brown (Asbury, Mo.). The Browns lived in Pittsburg until moving to Joplin in 2000.

He served in the Korean war from 1952 to 1954. He was a man of many talents and accomplishments. His interests included hot rods, cars, and dragsters - which he built and raced, and he also enjoyed playing golf. Ron Brown was VP of Atkinson Industries for 30 years and following his retirement, he then owned and operated the Neptune Radiator and car wash. He was a member of EASA, Exchange Club, and VFW. Ron was well respected as a member of the community for his expertise and help in any and every need with his incredible engineering mind at work. His legacy lives on and he will be missed by all those who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church in Pittsburg.
