GIRARD, Kan. — Evergy will be doing maintenance on their power lines causing the City of Girard to operate solely using its power plant engines.
Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday Sept. 28, the City of Girard will disconnect its transmitting lines from Evergy and begin providing the city with its own electric. The city plans to reconnect with Evergy at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29.
The City of Girard noted that they do not anticipate any problems and most residents will not notice any changes. However, there is always the unexpected which can cause issues.
