Bark in the Park returns to Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Kan. — Presented by the SEK Humane Society and Arck Construction, the ninth annual Bark in the Park returns to the Pittsburg area on Saturday at Schlanger Park.  

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event will have several activities planned out for attendees. Activities are crafts, a dog agility contest, mascot photo booth along with food and local business vendors available. Then, at 11:30 a.m., the event features a free public demonstration by Good Boy Professional Dog Training with a focus on proper socialization and pack structure.  

Starting at noon is the community dog walk through Schlanger Park followed by another free public demonstration by Good Boy Professional Dog Training which will provide junior handlers information.  

Closing this year’s event is the ever-popular dog show. Categories in this year’s dog show are puppy, adult, best trick, best costume, and a best in show final award. The cost of the dog show is $3 per category or two categories for $5.  

Along with the activities, the event features a VIP event bag for attendees. The VIP bags include a limited edition 50th SEK Humane Society anniversary t-shirt, unlimited category entries into the dog show, unlimited photos at the mascot photo station, and a shopping bag with goodies.  

The VIP bags were previously on sale at the SEK Humane Society’s Doggie Bag resale shop for $25.
