William “Joseph” John Meiers Vilmer, 36, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away tragically on September 11, 2024. William was born on May 27, 1988, to William and Mary (Meiers) Vilmer in Pittsburg, Kansas.
William “Joseph” graduated from Girard High School and was in FFA. He loved animals and horses. He worked for Ervin's Tree Service for 12 years, Heckert Construction, and then Emery Sapp and Son's.
He was a passionate uncle and family man who loved riding his motorcycle. William “Joseph” was also an honorary American Legion Rider Volunteer for the American Legion Post #35 in Cherokee, KS.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Meiers Vilmer of Pittsburg, KS; a brother, James Vilmer of Pittsburg, KS; a sister Casey Frazier of San Antonio, TX; aunts, Jo Lynn Miller, Jackie Floyd, Brandee Johns, Cindy Stevens, and Brandy Nicole Hernandez Salas; a great uncle, Gene Frost; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and several close friends he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Bill Vilmer, a brother, William D. Everett Meiers Vilmer, two cousins, Bubba Travis Pryor and Bradley Floyd, and his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandparents.
William will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, joy, and the positive impact he had on everyone he met.
A Funeral Service will be on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Murray Balk officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery and a dinner will follow the service at the Cherokee American Legion. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. Memorial donations can be made to the Cherokee American Legion Riders and/or the family to help with final expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
