PITTSBURG, Kan. – Before gorging on a smorgasbord of food, community and family members are invited to give back on Thanksgiving. The 3rd Annual Pittsburg Turkey Trot 5K will take off at 8 a.m. Nov. 28 in downtown Pittsburg.
Besides promoting fitness and health for the holiday, the 5K organizers will donate a portion of the proceeds to Big Brothers, Big Sisters, a nonprofit organization that creates positive and mentoring relationships to help children achieve their full potential. Turkey Trot organizers set their funding goal at $12,000.
