PITTSBURG, Kan. — Rolanda Root, 2D art teacher at Pittsburg High School (PHS), was recently awarded the title of 2024-25 Outstanding High School Art Educator from the Kansas Art Education Association (KAEA). This marks the second year in a row a PHS art teacher has received the award.
Born and raised on a farm in Iowa, Root has spent the past 20 years teaching her passion at different schools in Kansas and Utah. For the past 5 years, she and a fellow colleague have been growing the art program at PHS. Root said most all the school’s art classes are at maximum capacity.
