Lavona D. Pelican passed away on Dec. 2, 2024, in Pittsburg, Kansas. Born on June 4, 1947, in Enid, Oklahoma. Lavona spent many years as a dedicated receptionist at Crawford County Mental Health until her retirement. She is survived by her husband, John Pelican; daughter, Tammy Marker; grandchildren, Doug Redd and his wife, Kandi, and Kurtis Wydick-Redd; and great-granddaughters, Kirsten and Audrey Redd. Lavona cherished the moments spent sharing stories and laughs, especially those involving her grandsons as they grew up. Family gatherings were a highlight of her life, and she looked forward to coming together for meals with the family a few times a week. A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the home of Doug and Kandi Redd, where family and friends can come together to honor her memory.
