Janice Marie Evans

Janice Marie Evans, 75, passed away May 20, at 12:08 p.m. due to head injuries sustained during a tragic car accident on Saturday May 6, 2023. She was born on April 25, 1948 in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Benne Pentola and Glenna Mae Dowty Pentola. She graduated from Girard High School in 1966.

Janice is survived by her husband John Evans; her daughter Jodi Scearce; her son Jared Evans; grandchildren Hunter Scearce, Averie Hinton, Tavin and Zain Evans; brother Vince Pentola (Pat); sister Marsha Palmer (Bob); brother David Pentola (Tonya); many nieces and nephews who she loved, and they loved her, along with many friends she loved and her dogs Sophie and Trixie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and infant granddaughter, Jaylin Evans.

She had many passions besides the love she showed to her family and friends, and that was cooking and gardening. She loved to entertain and have people enjoy her food. She hosted many bridal and baby showers for her nieces, nephews, and friends. Her 4th of July parties were outstanding.

Janice was a founding member of the Zone 6 Garden Club, serving in several capacities over the years. She was very involved with the garden tours. Her artistic ability showed in her creations in her gardening. She loved sharing her picture-perfect and unique creations. Her designs were her own, and she loved having friends and family share her love. She loved to decorate for all the holidays, especially Halloween; family and friends brought their children and grandchildren to her house because she was renowned for giving large treat bags. Janice had a true heart of gold. She gave heartfelt thought into the gifts she gave to her family and friends. When people met her, they liked her immediately.

Janice had a life of fun, compassion, generosity, and love. A life well lived.

Memorials can be given to the Southeast Kansas Humane Society.
