It is hard to believe that it has been a year since our sweet Gladys left us. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Fresno, California.
Gladys was the daughter of Donald L. Johnson and Mary Irene (Hampson) Johnson. She lived in Frontenac with her family, including brothers Donald R. and Edward O., until the summer before her senior year at Frontenac High School. She moved with her family to California, where her father had been working.
She remained in California most of her life. She became a registered nurse and enjoyed taking care of her patients for 40 years.
During that time, Gladys married and had three children; her daughters Terri and Mary live in California, and her son Christopher is in Tennessee. She has six grandchildren and five great-granddaughters.
Gladys returned to Frontenac after she retired and lived here for ten years. She then moved to Tennessee to be near her son and his family before she returned to California to be near her daughters.
Gladys enjoyed traveling and being with friends and family. Two of her favorite places to visit were Yosemite National Park near Fresno and the beach. She shared the Johnson sense of humor like her father and brother, Don.
Gladys wasn't just a caregiver in her work; she was kind, loving, and helpful to everyone, which is a true Johnson family trait.
She is loved and missed by her family and friends in Kansas, Missouri, and California.
