PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Fort Scott woman was seriously injured in a car crash Wednesday evening in Crawford County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the crash occurred at 7:41 p.m. on U.S. 69, five miles north of Pittsburg. The KHP stated that a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup was southbound on U.S. 69 when it left the roadway to the right. The driver then overcorrected, causing the Dodge Ram to cross the median into the northbound lanes of traffic and overturned in the east ditch.

The driver, 23-year-old Mikayla R. Ward of Fort Scott, was taken to the KU Medical Center for suspected serious injuries. The KHP added that Ward was not wearing her safety restraint.

In addition, the KHP reported that two juveniles were present in the vehicle.
