WEBB CITY, Mo. — Early Sunday, officers with the Webb City Police Department were called to the 1000 block of West First Street in Webb City in reference to a disturbance.
At 3:22 a.m., officers found a 39-year-old Hispanic female from Joplin, Mo., unresponsive. Officers began CPR until Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Due to the apparent manner of death, police say this is being investigated as a homicide. An autopsy has been scheduled for today. Additional victim information will be released upon notification of next of kin.
Investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control were on scene assisting Webb city detectives with the investigation.
Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, and that the victim was targeted. It is still early in the investigation and information will be released as it becomes appropriate.
