Carolyn L. Barto, 88, of Frontenac, KS, died Nov. 8, 2024, at the Girard Medical Center in Girard, KS.
She was born May 9, 1936, in Hume, MO the daughter of Roy and Daisy (Brooks) Ward.
On June 13, 1959, she was united in marriage to Raymond Barto in Frontenac; he preceded her in death on October 5, 2004.
She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac; she was also a member of the altar Society and a long-time donor to Pitt State Athletics.
She was the president of Barto’s Enterprises. She and her husband Ray ran Idle Hour Dance Hall in Frontenac, in 1965 they opened the restaurant side of the Idle Hour, and then in 1974 they started Barto’s Trailer Park.
Survivors include a son. Doug (Barb)Barto of Frontenac; three daughters: Terry (J.P.) Cleland of Arma, KS, Carla (Peg Lero) Barto of Frontenac, and Valerie (Verne) Moore of Frontenac. Seven grandchildren: Jeff (Heather) Cleland, Caroline Barto, Emily Barto, Chase (Taylor) Cleland, Blake Barto, Bryce Barto, Tejay (Gabbi) Cleland; four great-grandchildren: Colton Cleland, Callie Cleland, Bentley Barto and Camdyn Cleland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her husband Raymond.
Mass of Christian Burial were 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Father Daniel Vacca as celebrant. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Parish rosary was recited 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Condolences may be left at www.friskelfuneralhome.com
