Beverly J. Galloway, 91, of Covington, Indiana, passed away on Dec. 3, 2024, at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Beverly was born Jan. 7, 1933, in Fountain County Indiana to Roy Fields Ricketts and Marjorie Marie (Corey) Ricketts. She married Robert Edward Galloway on Sept. 6, 1952. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2005.
Beverly was a 1952 graduate of Covington High School and attended Purdue University, majoring in Home Economics and English. She later obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas.
Beverly was a life member of the First United Methodist Church. While living in Pittsburg, she served as a Sunday school teacher and volunteer office worker. She volunteered as an English tutor, and with her husband, was host to many International students. She served her community by volunteering for Cancer and Red Cross Drives, Meals on Wheels, Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, and was a Pink Lady Mt. Carmel Hospital. She was also a member of the Faculty Wives Club and worked part time in the Testing Department at Pittsburg State University. She was a Residential Sales Associate for Wood Realtors for several years.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed walking in the family woods and working on her English flower garden. She and Ed traveled the United States, England, Ireland, and Scotland and spent summer family vacations near Estes Park, Colorado in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Beverly is survived by a daughter, Cathy Galloway Pacheco of Covington; two sons, Michael (Ellen) Galloway of Overland Park, KS and Matthew (Dawn) Galloway of Ballwin, MO. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren and a niece, Sabrina Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Anne Smith.
A visitation will be held on Sunday Dec. 8, 2024, from 12 to 2 p.m. EST at Sunset’s Covington Chapel, 420 3rd street Covington, Indiana. Service to follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. EST, with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana.
