Stephen (Steve) Douglas Blom

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Stephen (Steve) Douglas Blom, 77 of Windsor, Colorado on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024.

Steve was born Oct. 6, 1947, to E.L. “Al” and Faye (Wilson) Blom in Kansas City, Missouri. His father preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2005, and his mother preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2012. He is also preceded in death by his wife Deborah Blom who passed away in 2022.

Stephen is survived by his four children and six grandchildren:  Daughter Rene (Dan) Fesmire, their children Mitchell and Maddie:  Son Matt Blom, daughter Elizabeth Blom and her children Olivia and Gavin and step-son Kyle (Sara) Fischer and their children Wrigley and Piper.  Steve also is survived by his sister Donna (Bruce) Bartelli, their daughters Lindsey (Fred) Turner, their children Chase (Kalyn) Turner and Kylee Turner and daughter Laurie (Jason) Williams and their son Asher.

After graduating from College High School in Pittsburg, Kansas he obtained a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University and then a Master’s in Business Administration from Wichita State University.  Steve was a veteran of the United States Army serving at the rank of Captain from 1972 to 1981 in San Antonio, Texas, Honolulu, Hawaii and Ft. Riley, Kansas. After leaving the Army Steve led a successful career in Health Administration.  He served as Director of Personnel and Finance at Big Lakes Developmental Center, Manhattan, Kansas; Director of the University Health Center at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska: Executive Director at American College Health Association in Rockville, Maryland; Director of Ambulatory Services at ASG Management Company in Fairfax, Virginia; Director Student Health and Wellness Center at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland. He and Deb then moved in 1991 to Windsor, Colorado where he retired in 2011as Executive Director, CSE Health Network at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins.

 Steve enjoyed “La Dolce Vita” (The Good Life) especially in travel, good food, watching sports and above all family visits.  He will be extremely missed by all who knew him.  

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Allnutt Funeral Service (Hunter Chapel) at 11 a.m. in Ft. Collins, Colorado, 650 West Drake Road.
