PITTSBURG, Kan. — A 22-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon for a shooting that occurred earlier that day, according to the Pittsburg Police Department.
The PD reported that at approximately 2:22 a.m. on April 6, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of W. 23rd Street in response to a call about gunshots in the area. After checking the area, the officers did not initially find anything suspicious. During this time, the dispatch center received a call from Mercy Pittsburg Hospital regarding a 20-year-old male who was in the emergency department with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Officers spoke with the victim who identified a suspect. After witnesses were interviewed and evidence was collected, 22-year-old Dominik S. Short was arrested for felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and an unrelated traffic violation. Short is currently being held without bond at Crawford County Jail.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital on Sunday.
Short is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
